Ihr haltet den dritten Band einer Reihe in der Hand, die die fotografischen Arbeiten Holger Dülkens der vergangenen Jahre zeigt.

In der Bewegung entstehen Bilder. Bilder, die unsere Facetten widerspiegeln. Die wir fühlen und die etwas mit uns machen; etwas in uns auslösen. Die Monografie-Reihe Holger Dülkens aus dem Zyklus „Lochbildfotografie“, zeigt eine moderne Bildsprache mit technischen Anleihen aus historischen Zeiten der Camera obscura. Eine einzigartige Bildsprache nimmt uns mit auf die Reise in die fotografische Gefühlswelt des Bildautors und zeigt uns, gegenläufig zu technischen Hochentwicklungen, die Ausdruckskraft künstlerischer Fotografie.
Durch die Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografie im Stil der Lochbildtechnik kristallisiert sich die Seele auf den Bildern ganz besonders heraus – die Essenz bleibt erhalten, Unwesentliches verschwindet im Schatten und in der Unschärfe.
Holger Dülken hat eine unverwechselbare, eigene, in schwarz-weiß gehaltene, fotografische Handschrift.
Begleitet wird die Reihe durch Texte und Gedanken von An­dreas Neu, eines Berliner Autors, Regisseurs und Dramaturgen, der durch seine Assoziationen eine sehr persönliche Reflexion auf die Bilder vornimmt.

What you hold in your hands is the third volume of a series that shows the photographic work of Holger Dülken in the last few years.

Pictures can capture our movements. These pictures reflect the different facets of our personality. We can feel them and we become aware of the effect they have on us. The emotions that come up. This can be different and is different from one person to the next – depending on the subjective view of the world and on the individual past. There is no “right” or “wrong” here. Photo sessions often lead to a state where we feel we can let things flow and our soul can let go. It is revealed in the photos and allows us to get to know us better. What was hidden a moment before becomes suddenly visible and is expressed in pictures. We feel the metamorphosis and we feel the perception. Emotions find their way to the surface of our soul. In pictures, in insights about ourselves, in learning through photos of us and about our personality. It’s intimate. Because this is how we are.

The series of the cycle „hole pattern photography“ shows a modern imagery applying some historical techniques of the pinhole camera era. A unique imagery takes us to the journey into the author’s photographic emotional world and demonstrates the vigour of artistic expression in contrast to technical high development.
In the black-and-white pictures in pinhole camera style the soul of a person emerges in a very unique way – the essence remains untouched; the insignificant parts disappear in the shadows and the blur.

Texts and thoughts, which were written by Berlin-based author, director and dramaturg Andreas Neu, provide a framework for this book series. He reflects in a very personal way on the connotations these photos can evoke.
